insureandNO

So last year I took out an annual travel insurance policy because of the number of holidays I was going on. Its about to expire towards the end of this month and I was fully expecting to take out another to cover me for this years holidays. But the cheeky bastards have sent me a letter telling me that they will automatically renew my policy unless I tell them otherwise. I think that this is completely out of order and was not amused. The worst part is that in big bold letters is the sentence, we’ve frozen your price. Well fair enough if the price has gone up significantly then maybe I would have said nothing and would have carried on with their cover. But no, the cost has actually reduced by £5, I quickly phoned them up, canceled the renewal and will probably end up renewing again online in a few weeks time ready for my snowboarding trip in February.

A new year

Well its a new year. I’ve just returned from a few days down in Newbury visiting Jon. It was a good weekend, on the way back I popped into Xscape to pick up some new boots and have decided on a new jacket.

Usually I attempt some kind of new year resolution, but this year I’m going to do no such thing. In previous years I’ve given up alcohol for a pre-determined time, sometimes with success and other times not so much. But what is the point? Each year we try and come up with some kind of thing to do for the year, these will either be really difficult in which case we fail, or far too easy. Its very rarely that we will pick something that is achievable and taxing all at the same time. This year I’m just going to settle with doing the best I can in all that I try, getting some good snowboarding done, and possibly buying a house.

Power to the Blogger

So it begins again…

I’ve been a blogger for many years, just looking at my profile reveals that I’ve had this Blogger account since December 2002. I’ve never really used this account though in favour of using a version of WordPress which I host on my own domain. But recently I’ve not been posting.

The major problem with having a blog is that its so easy, anyone can have one. Either one that they host themselves, or using one of the many hosted services. And what does anyone find to say, generally not much. Most blogs are rubbish, the problem I’ve had recently is that not only have I had nothing to say, I’ve also been contemplating changing from WordPress to Expression Engine. This sounds simple enough, but what actually happens is that I start spending all my time trying to come up with some kind of theme for my new look blog.

So I’ve made a decision, I’m going back to basics. I’m not going to worry about what it looks like, because it doesn’t matter. The simplest way to view information is though RSS feeds, so why do I care what it looks like. The time has come to forget about it and to try and worry about content, because thats what people come to read. A nice site with no content is on no use to anyone, but people will come back for good readable content.

So let the experiment begin.
