Please accept my sincere apologies, here I sit in my office and its pissing down, and its all my fault. I’m not an egocentric person, but I did spend £45 on shorts and for this reason I think I might be a little to blame. I’m intending on wearing trousers for work tomorrow, so hopefully they sunny weather will return. Sorry!

As you can see I’ve changed my theme, I’d had the old theme for a while and was getting bored of it. It also had some issues when being displayed in IE which I could never get to the bottom of. Hopefully this one will be better although I won’t be able to check that out till I go to work and logon to my PC. Its not comeplete yet I may yet make some changes since I have some ideas, I’m just not sure if I’m skilled enough in WordPress theme customisation to make them a reality.

Well its been another hot weekend, and I’ve used the 48 hours wisely, by doing nothing. Saturday started with a bit of light shopping in town, that makes it sound much easier that it was. I actually had a hangover so wasn’t really in the mood for crowded shops, it didn’t help that my reason for shopping was for some new shorts (of which most of the good ones had already been sold). The complete lack of decent air conditioning at work means that I no longer care how I look and so just wear shorts and a t-shirt. On Saturday afternoon I then went to a BBQ and finished the day off my going to York to see some bands.

Today has been another quiet day, again starting slightly hung-over. Think I’m gonna try and get an early night since I start work at 8.30 all week and then am spending another weekend in London so really could do with some rest.

Anyway not a great deal to report, come back soon.

I found this and thought it was worth linking to (how sad am I).

Its summer now, which means more spare time on my hands, last summer I started writing my own Content Management System but got side tracked and so it got pushed to one side. I think I’m going to try and get it finished off (although the chances are that I’ll actually start again from scratch and again never get round to finishing it). So if you have any specific CMS needs, now would be a good time to mention them. The aims of the project include (although are not limited to, and lets face it, if it begins to become too difficult then I’ll soon drop the hard stuff):

  • a simple templating system
  • built-in calendar functions (so you can publish/share your diary)
  • blogging features (including comments)
  • simple page creation
  • simple category/sub-category structure
  • standards compliant
  • …and maybe more although can’t think of much at the moment.

I’ve just installed this new HTML validator for Firefox, it tells you what errors a webpage has as you browse it. As web developer its quite a handy little tool. Whatever you do DON’T install it and use it when looking at any pages I’ve written because you will discover that some of my pages have a few errors.

I don’t usually get much post, but today I got a letter I never wanted to see. Thats right its my entry form for next years London Marathon. I’ve just filled it in and will post it tomorrow, I’m still working on the assumption that it usually takes 5 trys before you actually get a place, so hopefully I’ll fail again this year!

I really should have written about this a bit sooner, but better late than never. On Tuesday 11 July Phil and I went to the Cockpit in Leeds to see the excellent Pigeon Detectives. I’ve got to admit that I wasn’t feeling too good since it was only a day after returning from T in the Park and normal bodily functions were still raging out of control, but it was still awesome and by far the most energetic gig ever.

Its the only gig where stage diving is encouraged, at one point there must have been about three or four people at a time diving from the stage, resulting in the people stood near the front getting a bit of a pounding. Anyway it was a top gig. Sadly we didn’t go to the after show party cos I wanted to get back and missed out on a few beers with Carl Bart and the rest of the guys from Dirty Pretty Things. Oh well there’s always next time.

After being at the pub on Friday I was hungry having had no tea. I therefore decided that the only solution was to buy a kebab. The problem is that I know that kebabs are bad, but why is it that we can’t resist one when drunk.

I seem to remember a piece on watchdog one day when they actually went to a kebab factory and found out what was in a donor kebab. It turns out that they are actually made of fairly decent meat, not cats and dogs. The thing that troubles me is the way donor meat is cooked, while on day one it may actually be good quality, after a couple of days being heated up and cooled down again, it really can’t be good for you.

So basically my question is, do you like kebabs, and if so, would you ever eat one sober?
