So much has happened since I last posted, and it’s not over yet. Firstly Phil, Simon and I went to the Carling Academy Newcastle on Thursday night to see the Charlatans and it was bloody brilliant. I’ve already seen the Charlatans a few times before, but usually at a festival so seeing them in a relatively small venue was amazing, that’s the only way to describe it. I’ll certainly be making an effort to get into the King Tuts tent at T in the Park in July.
I had Friday off, so had a rather chilled morning recovering from the night before and then washed my car and packed my bag waiting for Simon to come and pick me up ready for our trip to Johnny’s. After we’d picked Helen up and she was mentally checking she had everything, it was quite unfortunate that I realised I had no underwear. A quick detour back to my house soon resolved that.
The journey down was quite dull, I generally find car journeys quite dull if I’m not the one behind the wheel so was struggling to stay awake all the way there, this wasn’t helped by the huge meal we had half way there. Even with my rather dubious map reading we made it there, cracked open a few beers and watched Shrek 2.
On Saturday we went to Wycombe to see the mighty Darlo win, this was a very bizarre outcome as it was most unexpected. The only problem this leaves us is that with one game to go we are on equal points with Peterborough on 62 points, we’re 3 points behind Lincoln City who are in the last play off position, meaning that again we could miss out on goal difference.
On Saturday evening we couldn’t decide whether to go out in Newbury or Reading, after no-one was willing to commit, we decided we’d go to Newbury for a meal and a few beers and then come back down in July (when I’ll be driving) for a bit of sight seeing and a big night out in Reading. In the end this turned out to be the right decision since the food was excellent. We didn’t stay out very late as we had an early morning so had a few more beers in the flat and watched Die Hard With A Vengeance (you should ask Simon about this because we discovered that he’s a big fan of Bruce Willis.)
So that brings us to today. After waking fairly early we packed our stuff up and headed to Watford for their final game of their Championship promotion campaign. It was strange being there as a neutral fan, the chants were all the same as Darlo’s just slightly different, it sounded very strange. The game against Hull was quite a dull game resulting in a 0 – 0 draw. This was good enough to see them finish third and be drawn against Crystal Palace in the play offs.
After the game we grabbed a quick drink while we waited for traffic to clear and then headed back. I got back at about nine, and am rather quite tired. What I want to know is why MOTD2 isn’t on! I don’t want to watch stupid snooker, where’s the fun in watching a man poke a ball around a table with a pointy stick? Anyway I suppose I’d better give in now and accept that it’s not going to be on. I’ve got to be up early again tomorrow as the myspace gig challenge rolls back into Leeds where we’re hopefully going to rack up another 10 bands for the collection.
Goodnight!
